T60RPmk2ai – Tradition Meets High-End Audio

The new Fostex T60RPmk2ai combines state-of-the-art headphone technology with genuine Japanese craftsmanship – making a statement for those who want to not only hear sound, but experience it. Manufactured in Japan and finished with genuine Awa indigo, the semi-open housing is made of solid maple wood, which is carefully hand-dyed over several days. Each layer of “Hon-ai” – a dye extracted exclusively from natural indigo – penetrates deep into the wood structure, impressively highlighting the grain. The result is a headphone whose appearance is as unique as its sound.

4th generation RP driver – studio-level precision

The latest generation of RP drivers has been further developed to enable even more precise sound reproduction. It contains more magnets surrounding the diaphragm and a newly designed coil pattern. This expands the diaphragm's range of motion and makes it more uniform. In addition, the magnetic circuit has been optimized to distribute the magnetic flux more evenly. This reduces unwanted resonances and ensures clear, precise sound reproduction, especially during dynamic changes. Thanks to these improvements, the new driver offers higher sensitivity, a balanced frequency response for reliable monitoring, and excellent transient characteristics. It enables detailed reproduction from low to high frequencies, improving the localization of sound sources and the spatiality of the sound field.

7N-OFC internal wiring – high-end down to the last detail

For internal signal routing, Fostex uses high-purity 7N OFC copper with a purity of 99.99999 percent—a material otherwise only used in high-end components. This cabling minimizes contamination, maximizes transmission capacity, and ensures particularly clean signal routing. At the same time, it improves compatibility with external cables that can be connected via the two 3.5 mm jacks on the housings. The included unbalanced cable also uses high-quality OFC conductors, while an optional balanced 4.4 mm cable is available for demanding setups.
Ultrasuede ear pads – lasting comfort

The soft, breathable Ultrasuede ear pads are standard equipment here and feel pleasantly soft against the skin. They ensure consistent, high-quality sound across the entire frequency spectrum and, in combination with the low-rebound around-ear design, contribute to exceptionally high wearing comfort – even during long listening sessions.
