The Cayin HA-3A tube headphone amplifier impresses with carefully selected components and extensive features.

The chassis and the three transformer housings go through 14 elaborate work steps. The result is an extremely high-quality finish, which is reflected, among other things, in the paintwork with a fine texture and a deep glossy surface.

Another processing highlight: all assemblies are painstakingly wired point-to-point by hand.

Two 12AU7/ECC82 driver tubes, which amplify the voltage level of the incoming audio signal, enable the 6V6S output tubes to work with a very linear level.

The 22DE4 rectifier tube minimises interference when converting to DC and supplies clean current to the amplifier circuitry.
Two 6V6S output tubes drive a pair of custom-designed output transformers that support unbalanced and balanced headphone outputs. The output transformers' secondary winding provides an alternate phase, creating a true balanced output.

Voltage is provided by our proprietary premium mains toroidal transformer.
Headphone impedance is adjustable in three steps, providing suitable sensitivity for all headphones:

• L: 8Ω~64Ω
• M: 65Ω~250Ω
• H: 251Ω~600Ω

For easy connection of all standard headphone connections, we have provided the HA-3A with three headphone output connectors:

• 6.35mm unbalanced
• 4.4 mm balanced - optimised for high-sensitivity headphones and a
• 4-pin XLR balanced jack.

To ensure that the signal reaches the headphones 100%, a high-quality ALPS potentiometer controls the volume.
