The Ortofon SPU #1 E and Ortofon SPU #1 S models are similar in construction to the Ortofon SPU Classic GM MkII and Ortofon SPU Classic GM E MkII models, which in turn are technically closely related to the original SPUs from the late 1950s . The main distinguishing features of the SPU #1 models are the bonded diamond and the simpler can design. They are the most affordable entry into the fascinating world of Ortofon clay boxes.

The SPU Classic GM MkII and SPU Classic GM E MkII models are similar in sound, but because of the lighter, naked diamond with greater dynamics and therefore more vehement playing, the models are another way to immerse yourself in the beguiling world of sound colors of the SPUs.

E means elliptical cut, S stands for a spherical cut (round cut)
