The VSX-LX505 ensures support for 8K/60p (4:4:4/12-bit*2, 4:2:0/10-bit*3), 8K/30p (4: 4:4/12-bit*2, 4:4:4/10-bit*3, 4:2:2/12-bit*3, 4:2:0/12-bit), 4K/120p (4 :4:4/12-Bit*2, 4:4:4/10-Bit*3, 4:2:2/12-Bit*3, 4:2:0/12-Bit) video passthrough to compatible Displays, as well as HDCP 2.3*4, so you won't have any problems when upgrading to new devices. HDMI 2.1 also supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) to eliminate lag, stuttering and frame tearing and provide a smooth gaming experience. IMAX Extended

The VSX-LX505 is IMAX Enhanced, certified to deliver the dynamic and immersive sound of DTS exactly as the filmmakers intended, providing an immersive experience in your home theater. Dolby Atmos®/Dolby Surround Upmixing, by adding an external amplifier, the 9.2-channel AV receiver can be expanded to 11-channel decoding to the 7,2,4-channel configuration of Dolby Atmos® to operate. You can reproduce the object-oriented sound in smooth, curved movements or the realistic three-dimensional movement through the top speakers. Other audio codecs such as PCM and DSD can be upmixed with Dolby Surround.

DTS:X®/DTS Neural:X Upmixing

DTS:X is DTS's next-generation audio codec, leveraging object-based audio to enable new immersive and interactive audio experiences. By adding an external amplifier, the 9.2 channel AV receiver can be expanded to 11 channel decoding to drive a 7,2,4 channel surround system. Experience an immersive soundscape with incredibly rich and lifelike sound. Other audio codecs such as PCM and DSD can be upmixed with DTS Neural:X to enjoy 3D surround sound.

Dolby Atmos height virtualization

When playing any Dolby format, activating the Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer enables an even more immersive listening experience by creating a virtual surround and height effect from traditional speaker layouts without the need to use additional surround or height speakers.

Advanced automatic room tuning MCACC with Auto Phase Control Plus

Advanced MCACC adjusts the sound according to the listening room and speakers, and also produces clearer sound by suppressing the standing waves that occur between walls or ceiling and floor. The measurement of up to nine positions can be saved for a large listening area. Auto Phase Control Plus* performs real-time phase difference analysis and automatically compensates for the gap between the LFE and main signals, providing powerful bass and clear treble sound.

Works with SONOS

When you integrate the VSX-LX505 into the Sonos ecosystem with Connect or Port, you can play any music or audio source through your Sonos app. If you select the “Volume Pass Through” mode in the Sonos app settings, you can control the volume of the device through the Sonos app or yourself. Enjoy high-quality playback from the AV receiver via the Sonos app, just like your favorite Sonos system.

Power supply Zone 2/Zone 3

With the active function, the VSX-LX505 can directly control speakers in other rooms without the need for a separate amplifier. Additionally, the dedicated Zone 2 DAC allows you to listen to all digital audio sources.

Zone B output for wireless headphones

The VSX-LX505 is equipped with Zone B audio outputs to expand the sound of the main zone. You can listen to the sound playing in the living room through wireless headphones.

Voice control

The VSX-LX505 works with Ok Google, allowing you to control playback of various Chromecast-supported music services by asking a Google Assistant-enabled device to start, stop, skip playback, or increase or decrease the volume. This receiver also works with Alexa, so you can also use voice commands to control supported music services in multiple rooms* via the built-in Alexa device. Thanks to the two voice controls, you can easily operate and enjoy music services or internet radio with your voice, without using a remote control or smartphone app.

High-quality audio transmission through Bluetooth® wireless technology

The VSX-LX505 has an integrated Bluetooth® receiver and transmitter. This means you can not only listen to the sound transmitted from your smartphone or tablet with the AV receiver, but also listen to the sound fed into the AV receiver via Bluetooth® headphones. Supporting aptX and aptX HD codecs for audio transmission, you can enjoy high-quality, low-latency sound with compatible headphones.
