Quality from Ireland: True Colors Industries

True Colors Industries was founded in the mid-1980s by two university students, Andrew Stacey and John Payne, who both studied engineering at what is now the University of Central Lancashire. Both had a passion for sound quality, which was reflected in their original part-time and later full-time jobs in hi-fi retail. While working for a hi-fi specialist, a range of specialist cables came onto the market.  They were fascinated by the differences that cables make in the sound quality of different systems. Andrew and John were also fortunate in that there were nearby manufacturing companies that worked in or supplied the local aerospace and defense industries, giving them access to many of the high technology quality cables and materials used in the Hi -Fi industry could not be found. With these local resources and their engineering background, they became increasingly interested in the effects on the resulting sound quality and worked on a series of prototypes for personal use. But as so often happens, life got in the way and it wasn't until the early 1990s that the first TCI Cobra product was sold in a very basic and immature form through the hi-fi store that Andrew was running at the time.

In 1997, True Colors Industries was founded and TCI Cobra became its first commercial product, closely followed by TCI Python and TCI Viper. The continued use of specialized technologies and materials, coupled with solid engineering and consistent design principles, has ensured that TCI has always been one step ahead of the competition in terms of sound quality and value for money.

Design philosophy

We believe that design consistency is very important. Without it, the resulting designs are ad hoc products that have no relation to each other, sound different, and so you as a customer never know what to expect.  As a manufacturer, we have believed from the beginning that it is very important to have a consistent vision, closely linked to a design philosophy.  Consequently, we have key design elements set in stone as part of our consistent design philosophy.
