Single bi-wiring refers to a connection technique in which a speaker with a bi-wiring terminal is connected to the power amplifier via two separate cable pairs. The difference from pure bi-wiring often lies in the termination: A single bi-wiring cable is a single cable with two terminals (+ and -) on the amplifier side, which are split into four terminals on the speaker side (each for the tweeter/midrange and bass) (2 by 4 configuration).

The sonic advantages of bi-wiring are:

- Reduced interference (decoupling): Separating the signal paths for high/mid and low frequencies reduces the interaction between the crossovers of the high/mid and low frequencies. The "large currents" of the bass have less of an adverse effect on the "fine signals" of the high frequencies, and there is no interference between the two frequency ranges.
- Improved sound quality: This leads to improved detail resolution and more precise low bass. In general, one can speak of improved tonal balance and accuracy, as well as better dynamics.
- Improved damping factor: The separate cabling effectively increases the amplifier's damping factor, especially for the bass drivers.
