Along with the release of the Reference Celebration 40, Sumiko brings the Blue Point No. 3 out - another homage to 40 years of cartridge development. Sumiko has studied the resonance properties of the Blue Point No. 2 carefully and listened and recognized room for refinement. Because resonance is more of an influence than many listeners realize, they've tried redesigning the resonance of the enclosure around the generator... and we think they've hit it.

The tonal presentation of the Blue Point No. 3 is reminiscent of vintage Shure and Stanton MMs, known for their smoothness. With the proven MC generator system, that smoothness is balanced with the subtlety and nuance you've come to expect from a Sumiko MC. First and foremost - and if the word was ever appropriate - Blue Point No. 3 ups its sound image from below with a wonderfully smooth low-frequency reproduction. Bass lovers get their money's worth here. Lush and warm, yet defined and structured - the naturalness of the low end will grab you right away. But that is not all. You can expect the same color strength and richness in the mids that still remain transparent, and a high-frequency range that's subtle yet airy.
