Ortofon SPU Classic G Mk II Low-Output MC-Cartridge SME

The Ortofon SPU Classic G MkII and Ortofon SPU Classic GE MkII models are technically closely related to the original SPUs from the late 1950s, the ultimate classic. They are literally an inexpensive way to immerse yourself in the beguiling world of sound colors of the SPUs. The pickups differ only in the cut of the diamond: The Ortofon SPU Classic G MkII has a spherical diamond cut, the Ortofon SPU Classic GE MkII an elliptical one.

The bare diamond of these SPUs has less moving mass compared to a bonded diamond. Due to the lower mass inertia, the scanning diamond can follow the groove modulation more easily. More detailed information and improved dynamic behavior are the results that can be heard immediately.

A "bare" version of the SPU Classic is also available, i.e. without a socket, which can be mounted on a headshell with a half-inch attachment.

The ST-7 transformer is a perfect match for the SPU Classic G MkII cartridge.
