Rather than trying to impress with overemphasized bass or artificially highlighted details, the Elegan Series focuses on natural, balanced, and long-lasting sound reproduction. The Elegan Series combines modern speaker technology with a clean, timeless design. Carefully engineered Kevlar drivers, a precisely tuned tweeter dome with a waveguide, phase-optimized Linkwitz-Riley crossovers, and low-resonance enclosures featuring the QUAD Airflow™ bass-reflex system work together as a cohesive acoustic system. Every design decision is driven by a single goal: to reproduce music with the greatest possible naturalness and realism.

The QUAD ELEGAN 1 was developed from the ground up as a compact bookshelf speaker in the ELEGAN series and combines the openness, balance, and natural sound for which QUAD has been valued for decades. Its timeless design blends harmoniously into modern living spaces, while its sonic performance far exceeds what one would expect from a speaker of this size.

Music is about much more than just details. Timing, dynamics, spatiality, and emotion must blend into a coherent whole. That is precisely what the ELEGAN 1 is tuned to achieve. Voices retain their natural warmth and expressiveness, instruments are precisely positioned within a spacious soundstage, and the finest details blend effortlessly into the overall picture—never analytical or intrusive, but always musical and suitable for long-term listening.

At the heart of the ELEGAN 1 is a newly developed 165-mm low-midrange driver with a woven Kevlar cone. The combination of low mass, high rigidity, and controlled natural damping enables precise impulse response, minimal coloration, and exceptionally natural midrange reproduction. Despite its compact dimensions, bass reproduction extends down to an impressive 44 Hz (-6 dB).

For the high-frequency range, a 25-mm woven dome tweeter is used, integrated into a precisely engineered waveguide. This ensures controlled dispersion and a consistent sound balance across a wide listening area. The result is a homogeneous, spatial soundstage with seamless transitions between the drivers.

The ELEGAN 1’s cabinet is constructed from high-density MDF panels and is effectively reinforced by strategically placed internal bracing. This reduces cabinet resonance to a minimum, allowing the speaker to focus entirely on what matters most: uncolored and precise music reproduction.

The design is complemented by the Airflow™ bass-reflex system developed by QUAD. The aerodynamically optimized bass-reflex port reduces air turbulence and enables deep, controlled, and remarkably smooth bass reproduction.
