Limited to 500 pairs – A loudspeaker for connoisseurs

The Wharfedale ASTON was not only designed and developed in Great Britain, but is also manufactured there in a limited edition of just 500 pairs. This loudspeaker is not intended for the masses, but for discerning music lovers who want to own a true piece of hi-fi history.

The design is the brainchild of Peter Comeau, Wharfedale's Director of Acoustic Design. With over 40 years of experience in loudspeaker design, he has created the ASTON, a model that, despite its compact dimensions, delivers a sonic presence that far exceeds its size.

"When I designed my first hi-fi loudspeakers in the late 1970s, I wanted to create a compact loudspeaker with a full-range sound – something that didn't exist at this level of quality at the time. The ASTON continues that vision, combined with the latest developments in loudspeaker technology."

Technical Innovations for Audiophile Sound

Precision in a Two-Way Design

The ASTON features a brand-new 150 mm carbon fiber woofer/midrange driver – a first for the Wharfedale Heritage series. This high-performance driver is mounted in a highly rigid cast chassis that minimizes losses and enables exceptional sonic purity. A specially designed phase plug also ensures extremely natural and balanced midrange reproduction.

Perfectly Tuned Crossover

The ASTON's crossover utilizes only the highest quality components, such as air-core coils and specified polypropylene capacitors, to ensure exceptional transparency and seamless integration between the tweeter and woofer. Through intensive listening tests, the interaction of the drivers has been fine-tuned to achieve incredibly natural and spatial music reproduction.

Outstanding high-frequency reproduction

A new 25 mm soft dome driver is used for the high frequencies, which harmonizes perfectly with the carbon fiber woofer. Precise computer analysis and countless hours of listening tests have resulted in a tuning that offers unparalleled detail and transparency.

Natural sound fidelity down to the lowest frequencies

The ASTON's cabinet is constructed from multiple layers of wood, carefully combined to minimize unwanted resonances. Two rear bass reflex ports ensure powerful and precise bass reproduction down to 44 Hz. Despite its compact size, the ASTON impresses with a realistic, holographic soundstage that conveys an impressive presence.

To match its high-quality real wood veneers and elegant gold accents, Wharfedale offers a custom-made ASTON speaker stand. Manufactured in England from hardened, high-carbon British steel, it not only provides a stylish presentation but also ensures optimal speaker positioning.
