Q-Acoustics Q Sub 100 Aktive-Subwoofer
A larger space requires larger basses - and that is exactly what the Q SUB100 offers. Its 10-inch driver and effortless performance make it the perfect bass partner for our concept loudspeakers as well as for every other medium-sized passive loudspeaker in our range.
MAIN FEATURES
Introduction of the Q SUB series
Whether as part of a Q Acoustics home cinema system, as an effortless bass extension for your existing 7.2, 5.1 or 2.1 system or to gain the low frequencies of your active speakers - these new subwoofer models ensure drama in films and music.
Meet the Q SUB family
Regardless of the size of your home theater space or the performance of your system, Q Acoustics has the model in the right size to fill your space with powerful, impressive, but nuanced and controlled bass. The new subwoofer family consists of the 8-inch Q SUB80, the 10-inch Q SUB100 and a 12-inch model, the Q SUB120.
Flexible room layout
The placement in the room can affect the time of the arrival of the sound, while problems with the phase alignment can occur even with neighboring subwoofers and impair the frequency response of the system. The Q SUB product line uses digital signal processing (DSP) as well as fine-tuning for delaying and phase reversal to solve these integration problems. This technology allows the user to optimize the settings for first-class performance and ensure seamless integration with other speakers without the need for professional installation.
Source information
Subwoofers must be able to handle a variety of input sources, including stereo preamplifier outputs or mono signals from active speakers or home theater systems. The Q SUB series uses a complex algorithm in the DSP to detect the input signal type - stereo or mono and the level - and automatically adjust the system gain. This ensures an optimal noise ratio and dynamic range and improves performance regardless of the connected source.
Classic finish to supplement your facility
The trio's minimalist and clear design means that they can be discreetly integrated into the room or be proudly presented to fit seamlessly into any interior. The Q SUB series is available in two modern but classic finishes: Satin Black with a black grid or satin white with a gray grille. The new models complete the extended subwoofer family from Q Acoustics together with the slim 3060S.
Power amplifiers
The Q SUB amplifier module specially developed by Q Acoustics includes a DSP, a power amplifier and a power supply. It has four digital power amplifiers in a PBTL configuration (Parallel Bridge-Tied Load), which improve efficiency and loudspeaker control by reducing the output impedance and heat dissipation. This design can deliver a continuous output of up to 300 W and a peak power of up to 600 W, with an exceptional overall distortion (THD) of less than 0.1% up to 300 W.
Setting the frequency response
Subwoofers need an adjustable low-pass filter to adjust their upper frequency response to the weakening bass of other speakers. The Q SUB series has a low-pass filter with a frequency setting of 40 Hz to 250 Hz, whereby the -6 dB point is set. This wide range ensures that the Q SUB models can be seamlessly integrated and complemented with the low-frequency reproduction of any other loudspeaker system.
Driver design
The chassis are equipped with a robust steel chassis, a paper membrane and a rubber bead. The diameters of the bass units are 203 mm (Q SUB80), 254 mm (Q SUB100) and 305 mm (Q SUB120). The oscillating coils are 38 mm (Q SUB80/100) or 50 mm (Q SUB120) and are equipped with an aluminium demodulation ring, which reduces inductance-related modulation distortions.
Design of the enclosure
The design with endless baffles (sealed box) ensures tight, focused bass, coupled with DSP for precise acoustic tuning. Since there is no opening, the installation near walls and furniture is easier. The Q SUB cases are made of 18 mm thick MDF with a 36 mm thick baffle for more stability. Internal arrow struts improve stability, reduce the bloating of the housing and ensure optimum performance with high internal pressure.
