LX2-LPS – Overview

As the successor to the successful LX-LPS, MUSCAL FIDELITY presents the new LX2-LPS. A high quality, flexible MM/MC phono stage with adjustable termination capacitances and resistances. The beautiful full metal housing is excellently crafted and impresses with its subtle elegance - and all of this at a very attractive price.

LX2-LPS – Technical background

The LX2 phono preamplifier enables reference-level listening - it plays extremely precisely and faithfully. The development goal was to reproduce the music as the artist intended - nothing more and nothing less. To achieve this, special attention was paid to the critical elements of a phono stage: accuracy of RIAA equalization, low noise, low distortion and clipping margin. MUSICAL FIDELITY is famous for its extremely accurate and balanced RIAA correction. The deviations are a maximum of ±0.25dB across the entire frequency range. Additionally, the RIAA correction extends to 45 kHz, so no overshoot occurs. This results in absolutely clear high frequencies without intermodulation or other annoying artifacts.

The signal-to-noise ratio for both MM (better than 82 dB) and MC (better than 72 dB) is excellent and is virtually inaudible at any volume setting. The distortion of the LX2-LPS is negligible - less than 0.007% across the entire audio frequency band. The overdrive margin is calculated so that the LX2-LPS harmonizes with practically every pickup. The very stable ground terminal enables safe, hum-free operation.

The LX2-LPS offers the ability to terminate the pickup correctly. For operation with both MM and MC pickups, there are special sockets on the back into which RCA plugs with the appropriate capacities and resistances can be inserted. This means that even exotic pickups or pickups that react sensitively in this respect can be operated optimally and, in conjunction with the LX2-LPS, grow beyond themselves.

The virtues inherent in all MUSICAL FIDELITY devices, such as musical flow and emotionally gripping playback, are a given with the new LX2-LPS
perceived immediately. As we all know, nothing is perfect - but the LX2-LPS comes close.
