Customers repeatedly asked Michell Engineering whether this manufacturer, who had decades of experience in the production of turntables and tonearms, could not also build the matching cartridges.

After several years of development, Michell is now pleased to present a small series of excellent moving coil pickups - the Cusis (Latin for formative) series. Developed from the ground up, these systems can help you discover details in your favorite music that you have barely heard before.

All Cusis cartridges have the same moving coil design. The heart of the pickup is a samarium cobalt magnet, which is combined with pure iron to create a very stable magnetic field inside the pickup. 30μ pure copper wire is used to precisely wind the pickup coils onto an ultra-light armature that is mounted on a specially designed damper.

The damper was specially developed to give the pickup unit the perfect support that ensures that the pickup follows the groove precisely. The number of coils, the resulting power and the housing material have been optimized for each model in order to achieve the best possible tracking of the record groove. Care was taken in the design of the pickup to eliminate unwanted vibrations and resonances during scanning. Each pickup has a sturdy aluminum housing to which all parts are attached. The chassis is designed to absorb unwanted vibrations and provide a rigid platform for mounting the pickup parts.

The housing materials and the external shape have also been designed in such a way that vibrations and resonances are further reduced, which leads to a truly unrivaled level of detail and neutrality.
