90-HPA – Overview

The MUSICAL FIDELITY V90-HPA is a high quality headphone amplifier with analog input and asynchronous 24 bit / 96 kHz USB connection. V90-HPA – Technical background

The development goal of the V90-HPA was to offer maximum neutrality and fidelity to the music - i.e. a sound that corresponds to the artist's imagination. The V90-HPA features high input impedance and low output impedance, allowing it to easily drive the vast majority of headphones (10 ohms to 600 ohms). Its distortions are minor, typically less than 0.005% across the entire audio band.

It also offers an excellent signal-to-noise ratio, better than 109 dB (A). The frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 80 kHz (-1 dB). The combination of very low distortion, extremely low noise floor, balanced frequency response and low output impedance results in a fine, effortless sound that belies its modest price. The 24-bit 96 kHz USB input with asynchronous reclocking also has excellent measured values. It accepts signals from 16 to 24 bit word width with any standard sampling rate up to 96 kHz.

The V90-HPA is a beautiful piece of engineering and an affordable way to bring live music performance as close as possible to many listeners. The trade press is also convinced of this.
