M6si500 – Overview

MUSICAL FIDELITY relies on a consistent double mono construction in the M6si500 integrated amplifier without compromise. From the Class A preamplifier to the two separate mono power amplifiers on separate heat sinks. The M6si500 delivers 500 watts per channel at 8 ohms. The two separate power amplifiers can deliver up to 200 amps peak current.

The M6si500 is a very powerful amplifier. Almost thirty years ago, the Musical Fidelity A1000 launched the entire super amp genre. Over the last two and a half decades, we have further refined our original concept. The M6si500 offers a comfortable 500 watts per channel, incredible power handling, excellent measurements and excellent workmanship thanks to its solid construction.

M6si500 – Technical background

This remarkable integrated amplifier can drive any speaker perfectly and to its maximum potential. Listening with the M6si500 is a sensory experience. It produces an effortless, silky sound with great dynamics. The soundstage is wide and deep. With its sound level, it is well above its price market segment. So it's easy to understand why it's a hit with everyone who's heard it.

The distortion values ​​of the M6si500 are extremely low at a maximum of 0.08%, even at 30 kHz the values ​​are still around 0.02%. The M6si500 can easily be supplemented by Musical Fidelity power amplifiers via a preamplifier output. Thanks to its sophisticated preamplifier/power amplifier configuration, it produces large, stable sound images with an effortless, clear, very fine resolution. His basses have huge penetrating power and a punch with high-speed attitude. All in all, the M6si500 offers true high-end sound quality with a wide range of useful inputs - a compact package, reliable and at a fair price. In the current version, the M6si500 benefits from the experience gained with all devices from the “s” generation, especially in the preamplifier area. In this way, the signal paths could be shortened significantly again.

Because of its configuration of a preamplifier with two monoblock power amplifiers, both channels work almost completely independently of each other - which is what you would actually expect from a preamplifier with separate power amplifiers, but not from an integrated amplifier.

On the connection side, the M6si500 is very flexible. As is usual with amplifiers from MUSICAL FIDELITY, in addition to the RCA/Cinch inputs, there is also a symmetrical input, the signal of which is also operated symmetrically up to the bridged power amplifiers.

A special feature of all MUSICAL FIDELITY amplifiers is the AUX/HT input. Using a switch, this input can be configured so that the incoming signal is routed directly to the power amplifier (HT), meaning there is no need for volume control. This is particularly useful if the M6si500 is to be used as an amplifier in a home theater or as a second power amplifier in a set of 2 M6si500 in bi-amping operation. Normally this input simply serves as another high level input (AUX).

The M6sii500 also has a TAPE (line) output and a preamplifier output (PRE-OUT) for connecting an active subwoofer or other power amplifier.

The elegant case is ultra-solid and manufactured with the highest precision. The massive heat sinks enable the power amplifier to always work under optimal temperature conditions thanks to their vertical design.
