M2sCD – Overview

M2sCD – Technical background

The slot-in drive does not have a drawer mechanism, which increases ease of use. Of course, all parts that come into contact with the surface of the CD have a multiple surface treatment. The drive's read-in time is one of the fastest on the market.

The M2sCD uses a 24-bit digital-to-analog converter with 8x oversampling. This means that the M2sCD is able to reproduce even the most complex recordings musically true to the original. In addition to the high-quality gold-plated RCA output sockets, the M2sCD also has a coaxial (RCA) and optical (Toslink) digital output.

As is usual with MUSICAL FIDELITY, the measured values ​​are not an end in themselves but are still absolutely outstanding. The channel separation of an incredible 105 dB is far above the dynamic range theoretically conceivable on a CD and thus ensures an absolutely stable and holographic representation of the musical event. The distortion is at the limit of measurability at 0.003%, as is the signal-to-noise ratio at a fantastic 117 dB. Please note that distortions of an average of 1% are considered acceptable for speakers and 3% for analog pickups.

The analog output stage is designed so that it can easily drive even longer cable routes with its low output resistance and stable voltage. The power connection that can be plugged into the device also makes the M2sCD flexible in this regard, be it for longer connections or for experiments with specialized power cables.

The included remote control also controls the matching MUSICAL FIDELITY M2si integrated amplifier and allows convenient control of the hi-fi system. With the M2sCD you get a modern CD player that masters its field and lets you enjoy your collection in a completely new way.
