3sCD – Overview

M3sCD – Technical background

The M3sCD uses a 24-bit digital-to-analog converter with 8x oversampling. This means that the M3sCD is able to reproduce even the most complex recordings musically true to the original. The M3sCD can connect to all common external digital sources via 3 different digital inputs, which in turn benefit from the M3sCD's superb digital/analog converter.

The coaxial (RCA) digital input operates at up to 24 bit 192 kHz, while the optical (Toslink) input and the asynchronous USB input each process signal streams up to 24 bit 96 kHz. The M3scd also has coaxial (RCA) and optical (Toslink) digital outputs.

The then converted signal leaves the M3sCD via gold-plated RCA / RCA connectors. Using the trigger connections, an entire network of devices can be switched on or off with just one command.

As is usual with MUSICAL FIDELITY, the measured values ​​are not an end in themselves but are still absolutely outstanding. The channel separation of an incredible 105 dB is far above the dynamic range theoretically conceivable on a CD and thus ensures an absolutely stable and holographic representation of the musical event. The distortion is at the limit of measurability at 0.003%, as is the signal-to-noise ratio at a fantastic 117 dB. Please note that distortions of an average of 1% are considered acceptable for speakers and 3% for analog pickups.
