M6sCD – Overview

The MUSICAL FIDELITY M6sCD is a superb CD player in every respect. It offers outstanding sound quality, excellent disc reading capability and plays at a world-class level. It is the perfect symbiosis of excellent sound, great design and a wide range of digital inputs, making it the ideal partner for the MUSICAL FIDELITY M6si integrated amplifier and a wide range of other amplifiers.

M6sCD – Technical background

It uses a 32-bit digital/analog converter with 192 kHz upsampling frequency and reproduces even the most complex recordings musically true to the original. We adopted the fabulous CD drawer mechanism from the previous model M6CD, which does its job perfectly and has proven to be extremely reliable even in long-term use.

The M6sCD also has a wide variety of digital inputs. This means it's not only a top CD drive, but also a phenomenal standalone digital-to-analog converter for your external digital sources!

The two coaxial (RCA) digital inputs work at up to 24 bit 192 kHz, while the two optical (Toslink) inputs and the asynchronous USB input process signal streams up to 24 bit 96 kHz. The M6scd also has coaxial (RCA) and optical (Toslink) digital outputs.

On the analogue level there are both RCA / Cinch connections as well as the possibility of making symmetrical contact with the subsequent amplifier via XLR. Using the trigger connections, an entire group of devices can be switched on or off with just one command.

As is usual with MUSICAL FIDELITY, the measured values ​​are not an end in themselves but are still absolutely outstanding. The distortion is at the limit of measurability at 0.003%, as is the signal-to-noise ratio at a fantastic 117 dB. Please note that distortions of an average of 1% are considered acceptable for speakers and 3% for analog pickups.

But we're not the only ones who love the M6scd. The trade magazine Stereo wrote: “A picture book player.
