Harwood Acoustics

For decades the famous manufacturer HARWOOD ACOUSTICS was well known for his loudspeakers with their highly absorbing cones made from polypropylene. The bass drivers LF5 and LF8 are legendary and to this day are playing in many loudspeakers around the world at a stunning level. Even the current bass drivers of HARWOOD ACOUSTICS are not employing hard and ringing materials like metal but are made of low resonant sandwiches of different materials. In this way HARWOOD ACOUSTICS increased the impulsivity and the accuracy of the bass drivers without losing the sweet midrange of the polypropylene cones. The bass drivers are highly recommended to be used with Air-Motion-Transformers of HARWOOD ACOUSTICS: the results are a deep and well controlled bass and a mid- and highrange, which can compete with the best speakers worldwide.

Since 2020, the famous BBC monitor loudspeakers LS3/5a and LS5/9 have been based exactly on the H.D. Harwood reinstated as head of the BBC engineering team following the published reports. These are available in a true-to-original structure as ready-made boxes and as individual chassis, and soon also in kit form for dedicated music lovers. We explored all the options available to us today, reproducing the T27 tweeter and the B110A mid/bass as faithfully as possible, even improving the quality of the details.
